Good Morning and Welcome to Artist-to-Artist.

Today we have with us Cindy Lawrence from the United States.

Aloramyst: In your opinion what is art?

Cindy: Art is a gift one has been given to express from their body, mind, and soul to capture a moment or a movement in time that inspires and connects with others.

Aloramyst: Who or what first introduced you to creating art?

Cindy: I use to own a flower shop and sold my poetry for sympathy gifts, and I needed art to put with them. So..I began trying to teach myself how to paint…after 3-4 months of painting I put my first piece out on the shelf with my poetry to sell…and it went from there..

Aloramyst: Why did you choose to create in this choice of medium?

Cindy: This is what comes from inside me…It’s not that I chose it, but rather that I found it. Talents sometime stay hidden from oneself and I am glad I found this outlet.

Aloramyst: What software programs have you experimented with? And which is your favorite?

Cindy: I use Adobe Photoshop to take my paintings and upload my words to them.

Aloramyst: What inspires and motivates you to create?

Cindy: A lot of times an idea will just come to me and it goes from there, but writing has motivated me so much to create with my ability to paint by combining the two together and creating a scene with a story.

Aloramyst: Who is your favorite artist? What is it about their work that you love?

Cindy: I love artist such as Norman Rockwell, who, to me, told a story in every piece.

Aloramyst: Have you set any goals for yourself as an artist? If so, what are you working towards achieving?

Cindy: I want people to be able to relate to my work. I love comfort, peace, and inspiration and if I can help heal a wounded heart by something I created what better achievement for myself is there.

Aloramyst: Do you create art in other mediums?

Cindy: I free-hand paint in oils and acrylics and write poetry and songs.

Aloramyst: What are your recommendations and/or advice to other artists?

Cindy: Create within your own style and make it your own, but always Create!

Aloramyst: Is there anything about being an artist that you would like to know more about?

Cindy: Well since I am self taught I would like to know more about creating the backgrounds to my pieces with more abstract looks.

Aloramyst: Which promotional tools have been the most effective for you?

Cindy: Referrals and word of mouth.
